Day 3- Lisa
Tuesday was challenging. I attended a meeting in the morning where most people were enjoying fresh fruit, rolls, breads, coffee and juice. The plain oatmeal and hard boiled egg I had eaten for breakfast seemed boring in comparison. Lunch, again today, was peanut butter on “wheat” bread. Just peanut butter, because I could not afford to buy jelly this week. I also had a small banana, and snacked on a little bit more Chex mix…although not much, because the bag seems to be fading fast and I still have 4 days left!
One thing I noticed today is that since starting this SNAP Challenge, I really haven’t enjoyed my food at all. I am not able to ask myself, “what do I want to eat?” but instead, I just eat what I have available to give me the energy to get through the day. It is difficult for me, and heck, I know I am done with this challenge in four days. I can’t imagine having to live this way month after month, year after year. But many people do. Something needs to change!
